LA BELLA VITA! LIFE’S First Annual Fundraiser Dinner And Silent Auction

Living Independence for Everyone, Inc. sponsored La Bella Vita Italian dinner and silent auction held October 27 at the Thunderbolt American Legion Post 184 in Thunderbolt, Georgia. Board Member Steve Oldaker of Brunswick was the master of ceremonies and welcomed consumers, supporters, and friends. Board President Mark Schreiber gave the invocation. A delicious Italian dinner catered by Corleone’s Trattoria was enjoyed by everyone.

Keynote speaker Tom Kohler, Director of Citizen Advocacy, spoke movingly and eloquently about the importance of independent living and his dream of interdependent living for all of us.

Executive Director Bob McGarry gave a report on LIFE’s activities and accomplishments this year. He recognized the staff and board members present and expressed appreciation for their dedication and commitment.

The silent auction afforded lively and competitive bidding. Items were contributed by businesses and individuals. Attendees were invited to begin bidding before, during, and after the dinner. There were diverse offerings including a Disney World weekend, a condo getaway week, restaurant and department store gift cards, paintings, gift baskets, and more.

La Bella Vita afforded us a beautiful evening to let others know about our important work as a resource center for those with disabilities. LIFE already is making plans for the 2016 fundraiser dinner and silent auction. We welcome more consumers and supporters to join our efforts.
