Tools for Second LIFE
LIFE would like to invite you to visit our new assistive technology resource center. Tools for Second LIFE (TFSL) is a hands-on learning center for assessment, demonstration, education, information and assistance, and training of assistive technology available on the market today. Assistive Technology (AT) is any item or piece of equipment that is used to increase, maintain or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of life, including at school, at work, at home and in the community. TFSL offers individuals with disabilities an opportunity to try out different devices and tools before purchasing them. Give Denise a call (912-920-2414). She would LOVE to show you around!
Circles of Support
We promote the formation of circles of support for people with disabilities. Circles of support are networks that form around individuals with disabilities and are made up of family members, friends, co-workers and professionals. Circles enable people with disabilities to reach dreams which cannot be achieved through traditional systems.
Home Modification and Assistive Technology Program
Individuals may apply for assistance obtaining a home modification or assistive technology. Consideration is given to applications for wheelchair ramps, bathroom modifications, CCTV’s or any modification or assistive technology that increases accessibility and independence.
*Grants for the Home Modification/AT program are received from the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Association, National Fair Housing Association, and the United Way of the Coastal Empire.
Resource Library
Our on-site resource library houses books, magazines, brochures and videos on a wide range of disability issues such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Housing Act, disability rights and more.
Nursing Home Transition
The goal of this program is to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to pursue community based living as a viable alternative to nursing home residency. We can assist those who wish to return to their own home, move in with family members or live independently.
