A collective of people with disabilities, and allies, are driving across America from April to October, 2024, visiting a number of cities including many that are important to the disability history.
The 2024 Caravan for Disability Freedom and Justice hopes to interact with thousands of people across the country through its traveling roadshow, online Zoom gatherings, and supporting website from April to October 2024. While celebrating local disability rights movements, part of the Disability Caravan’s ultimate goal at each stop along the way will be to educate our peers on our history, and encourage them to be a part of their future by way of emphasizing voters’ registration for all. Presenters and local activists, will also inform listeners of the current state and federal issues facing people with disabilities.
A QR code printed on the van and on handouts will encourage people to explore the website where they will find expanded content, including success stories, history, tools for voter registration and supporting legislative efforts. There will also be links to other efforts around the country all working to move the disability platform forward. The goal is to make it easy for people to become informed, get connected, get involved, and ready to vote in November.
