Topic: Fair Housing for People with Disabilities – Understanding Reasonable Accommodation and Modification
Audience: People with disabilities and their advocates
Description: The Fair Housing Amendments Act was passed in 1988. The Act amended Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 to add disability and familial status as protected classes. Currently, disability represents the greatest volume of complaints received by the US Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). This forum will provide consumer training for people with disabilities in order to better understand their rights.
This event is cosponsored by the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA) and the Mayor’s Committee on Services for the Disabled. We hope you will attend and help spread the word to all who may benefit.
