All day: LIFE's Art-Tober Kickoff!

All day
October 1, 2025

Join us for Art-tober, presented by Life Inc. and the Wayne County Arts Council (WCAC)!
This idea is inspired by the well-known art challenge called Inktober. Inktober is an October art event originally created for ink artists, encouraging them to practice daily and find inspiration. It also became a way for artists to share their work online, bringing more traffic to their social media pages.

How it works:

Inktober provides an official prompt list—31 prompts for the 31 days of October. The rules have shifted over time, but the core idea is simple: create one artwork per day and post it online using the given hashtags. The hashtags make it easy to discover other artists’ work and connect with the larger art community.
Over the years, people have adapted this idea to include more art forms and broader participation. For Art-tober, I created a prompt list in partnership with Life Inc. and the WCAC, featuring half inclusive words and half creative words. The goal is to encourage all forms of art and invite everyone to participate in whatever way works best for them.
Forms of Art:
  • Drawing (even stick figures!)
  • Painting
  • Ink
  • Paper Crafts
  • Sculpting
  • Jewelry Making
  • Woodworking
  • Yarn and Fiber Crafts
  • Film and Video
  • Dance
  • Writing and Poetry
  • Any other art form you enjoy!
Keep in mind that shorter videos are easier to upload, and short writing snippets work great too. My favorite drawing I ever made was just a stick-figure cat—so even if that’s all you have time for; I encourage you to join in!
Rules:
  • Use the prompt list to guide your art.
  • Create one artwork per day—or if that feels like too much, combine prompts and post every few days. It’s up to you and your availability.
  • We’d rather see you complete 5 prompts than not try at all!
  • Doing the prompts in order is ideal, but flexibility is welcome.
Hashtags:
Use these to share your work and connect with others:
  • #LifeDoesArt
  • #WcacDoesArt
For daily prompts, you can combine the hashtags with the word of the day, for example:
  • #LifeDoesArtFluffy, #LifeDoesArtCat
  • #WcacDoesArtFluffy, #WcacDoesArtCat
Adding three or more hashtags helps your art get more exposure.
