Open to anyone with Dementia and their caregivers. Come "tour Jamaica" with us! FREE to attend! Relax & Interact!

LIFE, Inc's Screven office has partnered with Lynn Joyner, Dementia Care Specialist from The Heart of Georgia Area Agency on Aging, to present a Memory Café!

A Memory Café is a safe, supportive environment open to any individual experiencing the journey of Dementia, as well as their caregivers. It includes relaxing activities geared toward removing the daily focus of Dementia and allowing inclusion and socialization. Activities may include: “armchair travel", themed arts and crafts, music, etc.

1:00 pm: LIFE Social Club: Special Art event with Making Marks / Telfair Museum!

LIFE, Inc. is inviting you to our Social Club SPECIAL EVENT on October 30th! Please join us in person on Wednesday, October 30th for the second "Making Marks" session of guided artistic expression. Telfair Museums inclusive, community-based outreach programming is partnering with LIFE for this fun opportunity! This is part of the community quilt project Inspired by Maya Freelon’s tissue paper artwork in the exhibition Emancipation: The Unfinished Project of Liberation, we will create a community quilt with vibrant, colorful designs using fabric. The Making Marks project will focus on color, abstract designs, and flowing creativity as we experiment with our fabric
And, of course, one lucky attendee will win a $10 gift card! No registration required - please join us! This is a hands-on event and will not be available on Zoom this month.
Making Marks emphasizes the healing and transformative powers of artmaking by empowering people through art and bringing people together as a community, The artwork created will be displayed at the Jepson Center as part of the upcoming exhibition 'Emancipation: The Unfinished Project of Liberation'.
Everyone is welcome to attend. No artistic ability is required!
Wednesday, October 30th from 1:00-2:30pm, and the second Making Marks event will be 0n Wednesday, October 25th from 1:00-2:30pm.

Living Well in the Community (LWIC) is a five-week workshop grounded in Independent Living philosophy that can help people set and achieve quality-of-life goals, while building skills to support health and wellness. Trained facilitators guide workshop participants through information, discussions, and activities.

1:00 pm: Know Your Risk, Empower Your Health! Diabetes Awareness & Education Talk with Jackie Ogden of UGA Extension (HYBRID)

November is National Diabetes Month!
Please join us for an important talk to learn more about the risk factors that contribute to Type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes impacts millions of Americans and most often develops in people over age 45, but more and more children, teens and young adults are also developing Prediabetes. Could it be you?
The talk will be hybrid (in person and on Zoom) and our distinguished guest presenter will be Jackie Ogden, CFCS with UGA Extension who will discuss the risk factors that increase Type 2 diabetes. Even delaying the onset of Type 2 diabetes is worthwhile because it maintains a person’s quality of life and saves money on medical costs!
  • Free educational resources will be provided to attendees!
  • Light refreshments will be provided.

Support group for caregivers providing care for people with Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias. This is a free monthly meeting open to the public.

Occurs monthly on the third Thursday from 5:30 - 6:30.

Due to Thanksgiving falling on the regularly scheduled date, this board meeting will be held on 11/21/24 in-person with a virtual option via Zoom. The in person meeting will be held in the LIFE Makerspace at 4811 Waters Avenue.

The Board of Directors meetings are held bi-monthly on the 4th Thursday of the month at 6:00pm and conclude by 7:30pm.

Please join us for the Social Club Special Holiday Event and Potluck Lunch on Wednesday, November 27th , at 1:00PM at LIFE, Inc. in Savannah! Sign-up is required, please see below.
Special guest Yolanda Shipp will be showing us how to create a Charcuterie Board, after which we will gather to enjoy a potluck meal together in fun and friendship! (a Charcuterie Board is a platter of preserved meats, cheeses, and other foods served as an appetizer - YUM!!)
If you aren't able to bring a dish, please don't let that keep you from attending, we have you covered.
There will be a $10 gift card giveaway for one lucky participant!
Due to this being a potluck event, only the first part will be hybrid.
