LIFE would like to invite you to visit our new Assistive Technology Outreach Center in our Savannah office, 4811 Waters Ave. This is a hands-on learning center for assessment, demonstration, education, and training on assistive technology (AT). AT is anything that makes it easier to use the item or to accomplish a task, or both.
AT allows people with disabilities to increase, maintain or improve their abilities at school, at work, at home and in the community.
Want to try out the various assistive devices and tools before buying them? We can help! While we don’t sell them ourselves, we do have an assisting tech program that people can apply for to see if they quality for assistive devices, usually with a small cost share.
To learn more or to visit the outreach center, call Denise at (912-920-2414). She would LOVE to show you around!
Here are a few more items to help people with disabilities, including a large-print keyboard, and the pikstik (which helps someone pick up an item). There are many things that can help people with disabilities become more independent, such as pole with a sock assister to help pull on socks, a shoe horn, bath sponge with the long handle and much more.
